Mr. Matthew Putz

6th Grade; MS Social Studies

My name is Matthew Putz and I teach Middle School Social Studies. Prior to teaching here at STACS I taught as St. John Vianney in Goodyear. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in political science and two undergraduate certificates, in religion and conflict and in international studies, from Arizona State University. I’m currently earning a Master of Arts degree in European history, also from Arizona State University. I was born in Boston, and I grew up primarily in Ohio. I have lived in many places including Savannah, Georgia, New Orleans, Kansas City, Missouri, and Hawai’i. But I consider Cleveland, Ohio to be home. Outside of work and my studies I spend almost all my time with my family. We are parishioners here at STA, and I am a member of the parish Knights of Columbus Council. I enjoy training and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, reading Russian literature (i.e. Pushkin, Dostoyevsky et al.), and watching baseball, especially the Cleveland Guardians.
